Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds launch page for Iowans to review open records requests

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds today launched a Web page where Iowans can see all completed open record requests. The page contains a summary of all requests since Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds took office in January of 2011.

The page can be found at https://governor.iowa.gov/news/open_records/.

“I am pleased today to announce the launch of this Web page that will allow the public to see what documents have been requested,” said Branstad. “Our administration is committed to open, honest government and this page is another small step towards transparency.”

The open records transparency page will be updated monthly. Requests made from February 2011 through September 2011 have been posted. There were no completed requests in January of 2011.

“This page allows Iowans to see the details of each request, including the date the request was made, the documents requested, the number of documents provided, the date completed and any charge the requester incurred,” said Reynolds. “We are pleased to report that of all the requests made, 90% were completed without charges for staff review time and the average time for completion was 17 calendar days.”
